However, it was under the revolutionary vision of Giovanni Allegrini in the 1960s that the winery transformed into one of the greatest emblems of world wine. Nicknamed the "architect of the rebirth," Giovanni introduced the "Cru" concept and totally rethought the appassimento (grape drying) technique.
