Founded by Alejandro Fernández in Pesquera de Duero, the winery now known as Tinto Pesquera helped define the modern style of Ribera del Duero: high-altitude Tempranillo (here called Tinto Fino/Tinta del País), ripe black fruit, polished tannins and characteristic American oak. The project grew within the Fernández Rivera family, maintaining a clear focus on expressing the terroir of the banks of the River Duero – stony, clay-limestone soils, marked temperature variations and manual harvesting that preserves freshness and structure. ● The wines evolve in carefully selected American oak barrels and casks, seeking a silky texture and discreet spices, without overpowering the fruit. The Crianza is the gateway – juicy, versatile and gastronomic. The Reserva adds depth, more time in wood and ageing potential. In great vintages, the old vines labels and large formats show why Pesquera has become a benchmark for those seeking an elegant Tempranillo with character, precision and the ability to age gracefully.

Reserve/special editions: 10-15+ years

Tinto Pesquera offers exactly what we expect from a great Ribera: clean black fruit, ripe tannins and that wonderfully integrated coconut/vanilla note from American oak. The Crianza is straightforward, gastronomic and ready to drink, while the Reserva goes a little further in depth, with more layers and a longer finish. For those looking for a Tempranillo with refinement and character, without excessive extraction, this is a safe choice. ● And in strong years, magnum bottles are an excellent bet for the cellar.
