Notes and Information
Niepoort is a company with strong roots in port wine dating back to 1842. It was in the fifth generation, under the leadership of Dirk Niepoort, that the company expanded its horizons to Germany, where it currently produces exceptional Rieslings with an excellent balance between acidity and sweetness. In Portugal, we also have grape varieties capable of producing exceptional wines with an excellent balance of acidity and sweetness. As a strong advocate of all that is Portuguese and authentic, Dirk sees in Moscatel do Douro the full potential of a fortified white wine, with an unmistakable nose, complexity, acidity and elegance that so characterise the Niepoort house. Thus, it is in the old muscatel vineyards, in soils transitioning from schist to granite, at an altitude of 400-500 metres, that the best harvests of this 20-year-old Moscatel originate.
