Furmint
Furmint is the queen of the Tokaj region in Hungary and one of the world’s most versatile and complex white varieties. It is world-famous for being the base of Aszú sweet wines, thanks to its propensity for noble rot and its electrifying acidity that balances extreme sweetness. However, Furmint also produces world-class dry white wines with aromas of green apple, quince, and a deep smoky minerality. With a generous body and extraordinary aging capacity, it is a variety that combines the structure of a Chardonnay with the freshness of a Riesling.
