● In 2000, Luso-British Philip Mollet took over the management of the centenarian Herdade da Maroteira and changed its agricultural history forever. By identifying a promising terroir near Redondo, he decided to plant the Syrah grape, defying Alentejo tradition at the time. Partnering with winemaker António Maçanita, absolute icons were born, such as Cem Reis, Mil Reis, and the authorial Senhor Doutor line. Mollet's rigor is reflected in meticulous productions, focused on opulence and unusual sophistication. It is the pioneering spirit and determination that elevated this project to the level of international luxury.
