Fernão Pires is one of Portugal’s most widely planted and versatile white grape varieties, reaching its peak in the Tejo and Lisbon regions. Known for its aromatic exuberance, it reveals seductive notes of white flowers, citrus, and hints of honey when fully ripe. On the palate, Fernão Pires offers smooth and fruity wines with a balanced acidity that makes them extremely food-friendly. In northern Portugal, under the name Maria Gomes, it remains a fundamental component for producing elegant sparkling and blended white wines.
