Casa de Santar is the most emblematic wine estate in Dão, due to its history, size and prestige of its wines. The estate is in the possession of the same family (currently represented by the Countess of Santar, Tereza de Lencastre de Mello) for fifteen generations, and is now integrated into the Global Wines group. Casa de Santar is also the largest winemaker in Dão, with a vineyard of 103 hectares, 90 of which are red varieties and 13 white grapes. The property's ex-libris, and its brand image, is the magnificent 18th-century Manor, surrounded by beautiful buxos gardens.
