Anselmo Mendes always had a passion for Dão. One day he challenged his friend Manuel Pereira de Melo who had a small vineyard in Santa Comba Dão to make a wine that would recover the profile of the prestigious Dão wines of other times - complex wines of great elegance and aging capacity. Reorganized the vineyard with predominance of Touriga-Nacional, followed by Tinta-Roriz, Alfrocheiro and Jaen, after 14 years the first harvest of the Primado was produced.
